Alysa Selene is an American journalist, based in Germany and Washington DC. She has co-produced TV-documentaries and internet projects for ZDF Germany, Deutsche Welle Online, ORF-Television Austria and YES!-Magazine in the United States.
Together with German journalist Wolfgang Blau, she authored the book "German Dream - Träumen für Deutschland", based on their 30-part international interview series with world-leading scientists, artists, former heads of State and Nobel Prize laureates. The series includes conversations with leading thinkers such as Wangari Maathai, Paulo Coelho, Garry Kasparov, Mary Robinson, Wei Jing Sheng, Craig Venter and Muhammad Yunus about the importance of inspiring societal visions and their own most innovative dreams for Germany’s future. "German Dream - Träumen für Deutschland" was released as a non-fiction feature title of Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag, dtv-premium, in Munich. Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented the book at the 2007 Frankfurt Book Fair and discussed its theme with a panel of several of the included interview partners. With the release of the book, Alysa Selene and Wolfgang Blau toured Germany, presenting their "German Dream" book at some 30 events in more than 20 cities. Prior to developing and producing the “German Dream”-Series, Alysa produced and researched for the 2004 Presidential Election blog and podcast of Deutsche Welle and ZDF, one of Europe’s largest broadcasting corporations. This podcast, in the autumn of 2004, was the first-ever podcast of a German media company. In early 2005, Alysa Selene and Wolfgang Blau co-produced ZDF’s blog and podcast about the Tsunami Catastrophe in Southeast Asia, which was nominated for the Grimme Online Award, Germany’s most prestigous award for online journalism. In 2006, Alysa Selene covered the 4th World Water Forum in Mexico City for ZDFonline. Before working in journalism, Alysa founded and ran a small media company in Northern California. From 1994 to 2000 she was an international event and media coordinator for over 30 seminars in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Italy, Greece, Israel, Canada, Mexico and the United States. Alysa has had a keen interest in Germany throughout her life. In her youth, Alysa pursued an education in fine art, selling one of her first childhood paintings‚ in Germany. Her works have been privately collected in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Greece and Japan. |
